Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department

Hot Springs County, Wyoming

Our Fire Department is located in Hot Springs County, at the mouth of the Wind River Canyon in the heart of the Big Horn Basin. Thermopolis, Wyoming is home to 3,001 residents. Our county covers 2,004 square miles and being the only fire protection in our district, the 4,799 residents depend on our department to respond to all hazmat, wild-land, car accidents, and structure fires. We have Mutual Aid agreements with our neighbors which allow us to work in conjunction with Fremont County, Washakie County, Park County, The Wind River Indian Reservation, as well as the State Forest Service, and the BLM.
Thermopolis Fire Hall Picture In 2007 we moved from 418 Broadway to our new location at 400 South 14th Street. 26 volunteer members man any of 16 pieces of equipment. Each year we run between 100 and 120 calls. We are involved in activities such as parades, football games, demolition derby and we invite the community to come to the fire hall each year for our open house.
